Efficient software on heterogeneous systemsWebinar — Sep 28, 2016 Cortex®-A based Linux modules became very popular as they provide feature rich application software, computing power, and other benefits of industrial PCs at low cost. However, time-critical I/O applications, such as motor control systems or signal processing, frequently require the deterministic real-time behaviour of a microcontroller. Heterogeneous devices, such as the NXP i.MX series, combine the best of both worlds on a single device: a Cortex-A processor running Linux for complex application software such as data analytics, graphics, or complex networking and a smaller Cortex-M processor for real-time behaviour with minimum power consumption.
While heterogeneous computing has many benefits, the software development becomes challenging as you have to manage Linux application development, classic embedded microcontroller software and inter-process communication. This webinar will show how the new DS-MDK simplifies software development on heterogeneous devices by enabling Cortex-M/A bare-metal debug and Linux application debug in a single powerful tool.
