An Introduction to DS-5 and Beagle Board

Texas Instruments, EBV Elektronik and Keil/ARM are holding a series of one day introductory workshops that focus on how to use ARM DS-5 and the EBV Beagle Board.

In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to boot, verify, and interact with a Beagle Board, explore its capabilities, and use with the boot-loader and Linux kernel. You will also learn how to build and debug Linux applications using the ARM DS-5 cross-development environment.

By the end of this workshop you will understand the basics of NEON SIMD architecture, which is included in the Beagle Board's OMAP35x/Cortex-A8.

  • 9:00-9:15: INTRODUCTION
  • 9:15-10:30: Hardware presentation, ARM Roadmap/TI Sitara family, and ARM9 vs Cortex-A8 architectures
  • 10:30-11:00: BREAK
  • 11:00-12:00: Overview and features of the Beagle Board
  • 12:00-13:00: LUNCH
  • 13:00-15:00: Discover Linux, boot and test the Beagle Board
  • 15:00-15:15: BREAK
  • 15:15-17:45: DS-5 overview, Develop and debug real-world applications; build and debug an ARM Linux application using DS-5 on Beagle Board; an introduction to NEON
  • 17:45-18:00 CONCLUSION
