Using NXP AN5413 Cookbook with MDK

This hands-on lab demonstrates the NXP Cortex-M4 processor and Keil µVision using the NXP Cookbook examples. The examples are compliant to Cortex Microcontroller Software Interface Standard (CMSIS V5) and are contained in the APNT_304.ZIP file below. Serial Wire Viewer Data Trace, memory reads and writes is demonstrated in the context of the Cookbook examples.

NOTE: For information about using the Keil-supplied examples with MDK, see APNT_299.

An NXP S32K144EVB board and a USB A to microB cable are needed. The CMSIS-DAP.ZIP file (below) contains a CMSIS-DAP.S19 firmware file that can be downloaded to your board for OpenSDA debugging.

To use the Serial Wire Viewer, a ULINKPlus, ULINK2, ULINK-ME, ULINKPro or J-Link debug adapter is required. To run the CAN examples, another CAN node (a second S32K14x board or a CAN test tool) and CAN cable is required.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You must install 2 files to your MDK-ARM V5.23 installation before you can use this lab.

  • You must download the Keil.S32_SDK_DFP.1.0.0 (2017-04-19).pack file and then execute that file to install the S32 pack to your MDK-ARM V5 installation.
  • You must also download the UL2CM3.ZIP file (below) and extract it to your [installation_folder]/ARM/BIN/ folder. [installation_folder] is wherever you installed the MDK-ARM tools. The default is: C:\Keil_v5\. You will overwrite the existing UL2CM3.DLL file.
